Luiten Is Joost The Job For The 2016 Lyoness Open
- 07 Jun 2016
2016 Lyoness Open Betting Preview
With just one week to go until the 2016 US Open, there is a very weak field teeing up for the Lyoness Open in Austria from Thursday. Held at the Diamond Country Club in Atzenbrugg since 2010, this is a European Tour tournament where accuracy off the tee and finding greens are very much the order of the day and the in-form Chris Wood will return to defend the title he won twelve months ago...
|9th June - 12th June||Odds||Won/Lost||Bet|
| Joost Luiten (each way)

|Richie Ramsay (each way)||@ 28 / 1|
|Lee Slattery (each way)||@ 40 / 1|
Wood produced a quite heroic final round to snatch the title from Rafael Cabrera-Bello last year and the recent BMW PGA Championship winner can be backed at 9/1 this week.
It is Joost Luiten who is a 15/2 favourite and he is also a former winning here as he landed the title in 2013, which was sandwiched by a couple of T3 efforts in 2011 and 2014. The Dutchman has been in fine form during 2016 as he racked up seven top-fifteens in eight starts but that run has cooled slightly in his last three starts, albeit a return to a course he clearly loves, allied with the desperately weak nature of the opposition, ensures he is a worthy market leader.
Tip #1: Joost Luiten to win @ 15/2 with Betfred.
Bernd Wiesberger is a touch further back at 8/1 and the home favourite has an excellent record here as the 2012 champion has finished in the top-fifteen on three other occasions, although he did miss the cut last year. The Austrian's form has been solid enough this year and he is another who should warrant respect in this field.
Meanwhile, Richie Ramsay returned from the best part of two months off the course earlier this year with five successive cuts made and he has been admirably consistent, not least when finishing T6 in China. Ramsay has finished no worse than 32nd for driving accuracy and has ranked inside the top-20 for greens in regulation percentage during each of his past five appearances, which are statistics that should stand him in great stead at the Diamond Country Club, where he T11 on debut last year. Ramsay recovered from an opening round 74 to go 69-68-70 here in 2015 and he should use that experience to his advantage this week, with Bet 365 pricing him 28/1.
Tip #2: Richie Ramsay (each way) @ 28/1 with Bet 365.
Slattery To Return To Form
Finally, we're going to keep our powder relatively dry this week and we'll round things off with a small each-way wager on Lee Slattery (40/1). The Englishman has never missed a cut in four trips to Atzenbrugg, securing a couple of top-tens, and he has the game to thrive this week. Slattery, who ranks 29th for driving accuracy and 33rd for GIR on the European Tour this season, may have missed four of his last six cuts but a couple of top-fives (at the Qatar Masters and Shenzhen International) show that he is capable of producing the goods at tournaments that suit.
Tip #3: Lee Slattery (each way) @ 40/1 with Ladbrokes.
