2016 Sanderson Farms Championship Betting Preview

The main course in the world of golf is of course the WGC HSBC Champions over in China but there is alternative action from the PGA Tour and we will be looking to maintain that winning feeling at the Sanderson Farms Championship. We started the new campaign with a 50/1 winner thanks to Brendan Steele at the Safeway Open and we followed up by successfully backing Keegan Bradley to be first round leader at the CIMB Classic at 80/1 last week. Hopefully our next three picks can yield another winner...

The Market Leaders

The Sanderson Farms Championship looks like a tricky betting heat and it will be held at the Mississippi Country Club of Jackson for a third year running. Since moving to Jackson, the tournament has found a regular autumn spot in the calendar after previous versions of the event had been held at various points during the year.

The 2011 champion Chris Kirk heads into this edition as the 14/1 favourite following his tie for 8th at the Safeway Open, while the Silverado runner-up Patton Kizzire is 18/1 as he bids to build on his tie for 4th of twelve months ago. This is a desperately tricky betting heat though and we prefer to look for a bit of each-way value further down the market...

Toms Has The Tools

Ian Poulter is a 33/1 shot on his debut in this tournament but our first pick is a player who has plenty of course experience. David Toms finished 9th in Jackson in 2014 and 2nd in 2015 when wet conditions were far from ideal for him and he should be relishing the chance to play in hot, dry conditions this time around. The 49-year-old from Louisiana may be getting on in years but he knows the venue well after playing this course on numerous occasions in his younger days and he is a 40/1 shot this week.
Tip #1: David Toms (each way) @ 40/1 with Bet Victor.

Meanwhile, we are going to go with another man from the southern reaches of the USA as Lucas Glover looks a decent chance at 45/1. Hailing from South Carolina, Glover has a solid record here having gone 22nd and 39th in his two appearances in Jackson and he too should enjoy the better weather. The 2009 US Open winner has secured four top-25s on the PGA Tour in 2016 and will be relishing the weaker nature of the opposition this week.
Tip #2: Lucas Glover (each way) @ 45/1 with Bet 365.

Finally, Ryan Blaum has been rewarded for a fine recent run of form on the Web.com Tour with a couple of starts on the PGA Tour, including a respectable tie for 26th at the Safeway Open at Silverado. The 33-year-old from Florida looks tailor-made for a course like this as he is so good with irons in hand and we fancy Blaum, who has won in Brazil and the Dominican Republic during his career, could cause a stir in a tournament that has thrown up its fair share of first time winners over the years.
Tip #3: Ryan Blaum (each way) @ 125/1 with Coral.
