2016 CIMB Classic Betting Preview

Brendan Steele gave us a welcome 50/1 win at the Frys.com Open to open the PGA Tour campaign last week and we are looking to make it back-to-back winners at the CIMB Classic this week. A strong field heads to the TPC Kuala Lumpur, formerly known as the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club, for Thursday's start as the Malaysian venue has proven to be very popular since first hosting in 2013...

The Head Of The Betting

Patrick Reed's form at this venue has been on an upward trajectory as he picked up a best of tied 10th last year and the Ryder Cup hero heads here as a 14/1 joint-favourite. Reed is joined at the head of the market by Paul Casey, who has gone 2-2-4-3 in his past four starts on the PGA Tour, but the Englishman's two previous visits to Kuala Lumpur have yielded finishes of 37th and 24th.

Hideki Matsuyama is a touch further back at 16/1 after tying for 5th last year and he arrives off the back of his win at the Japan Open, where last year's CIMB Classic runner-up, Adam Scott (16/1), managed to miss the cut.

The Selections

It is Ryan Moore who has a stand-out record in Malaysia and recent form behind him though as we look to follow up on our 50/1 winner and two top-eight finishers from three selections last week. Moore has twice won the CIMB Classic (2013 and 2014) prior to his tie for 10th in 2015 and he has been in good form of late. Moore racked up three top-tens in five starts, including a runner-up effort at the season-ending Tour Championship, since winning the John Deere Classic and he did sign off the Ryder Cup with victory in his singles match on the Sunday.
Tip #1: Ryan Moore (each way) @ 16/1 with Betfred.

Meanwhile, Kevin Na has been in good touch of late and he tends to thrive at this time of year, as well as on this course. Na finished 2nd in 2014 and 3rd in 2015 during his last two visits to TPC Kuala Lumpur and he boasts a scoring average of 67.25. Na finished 7th at the Frys.com Open last week to make it nine top-30s in his past ten outings worldwide, and he ranked first for greens in regulation, which is likely to prove to be a very important statistic in Malaysia too.
Tip #2: Kevin Na (each way) @ 20/1 with Betfred.com.

Finally, Keegan Bradley has finished in the top-five of the leaderboard following the first day of each of the last two editions of the CIMB Classic as he opened with 65 and 66 respectively. The American is a tempting 80/1 to be first round leader on Thursday as he has missed just one cut in his past ten outings worldwide, with Bradley opening eight of his last nine tournaments with a score of 70 or better.
Tip #3: Keegan Bradley (each way) @ 80/1 with Sky Bet.
