Brendan Is A Steele For The Quicken Loans National

2016 Quicken Loans National Betting Preview
Several players have opted to take a week off following Dustin Johnson's impressive (if slightly farcical) win at the US Open but there is still a strong line-up for this week's Quicken Loans National in Maryland. The tournament returns to its traditional home of Congressional Country Club after being held at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Virginia last year and it promises to be a fascinating event when the action gets underway on Thursday...
- Robert Garrigus has a fine record at Congressional after tying 3rd at the 2011 US Open, as well as tying 4th there in 2012 and tying 11th in 2014
- Rickie Fowler has missed his last three cuts

The Market Leaders
It is Rickie Fowler who is a 14/1 favourite (Paddy Power) after he finished runner-up in this tournament in Virginia twelve months ago but a man who has missed three successive cuts makes little appeal at such a skinny price.
Patrick Reed is a touch behind Fowler after also missing the cut at Oakmont but the American is perhaps a more appealing price (20/1) off the back of a season that has seen him secure nine top-tens. Reed has experience of the Blue Course at Congressional as he tied 34th in 203 and tied 11th there in 2014.
Jim Furyk (22/1) also has course form as he has three top-tens to his name in the last ten years at Congressional and the veteran has shown that he is well on his way back to fitness following an injury lay-off. Furyk produced a stunning final round 66 to take a share of second place at Oakmont on Sunday but it will be a big ask for him to produce another big four rounds of golf so soon.
Brendan Is A Steele
Our first pick for the week is another player who enjoyed a fine week at Oakmont as Brendan Steele bids to build on his tie for 15th. His fine effort at the US Open was a fourth top-20 in his last five starts and he is a player who should thrive on the Blue Course, where he tied 16h in 2013 before tying for 5th in 2014. It augurs well that greens in regulation stats have generally been very important at this venue as he currently ranks 19th for GIR percentage on the PGA Tour and he is very nicely priced at 33/1.
Tip #1: Brendan Steele (each way) @ 33/1 with PaddyPower.com.
The Best Of The Rest
Meanwhile, Roberto Castro is a player who has a decent record at Congressional and he could slip under the radar this week. A tie for 29th and a tie for 30th came either side of a runner-up effort on the Blue Course in 2013 and this season's Wells Fargo runner-up is primed for another big performance. This will be his first outing since tying for 11th at The Memorial and it is worth noting that he currently ranks 13th for GIR stats on the tour.
Tip #2: Roberto Castro (each way) @ 60/1 with Unibet.
Finally, like Castro, Robert Garrigus has never missed a cut at Congressional after appearing here seven times and his recent form at this venue is very impressive. He tied for 3rd when the US Open was held here in 2011 and he has since tied 4th in 2012 and tied 11th in 2014, with Garrigus currently on a run of four consecutive cuts made on the PGA Tour, including his tie for 4th at the Byron Nelson Championship.
Tip #3: Robert Garrigus (each way) @ 80/1 with Unibet.
